First chance to test out my Canon 550D/T2i while out in Crete, in a little east coast town called Agios Nikolaos. Took a walk out on the beach & seawall around 5.30am for the sunrise. Crete is a fantastic destination, it's got azure blue seas, lovely people, is safe for single travellers and has night life if you want it or chill if you don't! And it really is absolutely stunning! I'm used to cameras like Sony Z1/Z7 which even though they're small can still be quite bulky. Unlike the 550D which is lightweight (depending what lens you have on it) and easy to tuck into tight spots, so you can be very creative with composition whilst filming. Focus can be tricky when there's bright sunlight (my next purchase will be the Zacuto Z-Finder) but if you work static you can setup the focus with the viewfinder then switch to record. I've never been able to justify the expense to invest in top of the range lenses either but even with the cheaper lenses you can get some stunning results! The 18 - 55mm comes with the 550D in a good deal bundle and I'm sure by professional standards its a no-go but for me it was affordable, is nice and wide, so a good lens to get me started! Lens: Canon 18 - 55mm IS 3.5 Tamrom 70-300mm 4-5.6
